Join Lift for a Virtual Screening of “Give Light”  and Q&A with Filmmaker

You are cordially invited to join us for a virtual screening of the award winning film, GIVE LIGHT: Stories from Indigenous Midwives. This powerful film brings the voice of Indigenous Midwives to the maternity care dialogue. Documentary filmmaker Steph Smith criss-crosses the globe posing the question: “why are the benefits of the traditional midwife practice absent in most modern care?”

The virtual screening means you can choose when to see the film anytime between 3 pm November 15 until 11 pm November 17th. As a special bonus, we will be hosting a Live Social Impact Q&A on November 15 at 7 pm CST  with our Executive Director Michelle Erenberg and the film’s creator, Steph Smith. Tickets purchased for the virtual screening will benefit Lift Louisiana.

GIVE LIGHT examines traditional midwifery, juxtaposed with modern obstetrics to bridge the gap between traditional wisdom and modern technology. With Louisiana’s disastrously high infant mortality rate and maternal maternal mortality rates, it is time we knew the importance of midwives to communities and societies.

Find out more about the film, how to screen it, join the Q&A, add your voice, and download a resource kit.
