Lift Releases New Report Exposing Anti-Abortion Pregnancy Centers

Each year, Louisiana funnels more than a million taxpayer dollars to the Alternatives to Abortion Initiative (AAI), a network of anti-abortion pregnancy centers that do not directly provide medical services. Rather, these centers push inaccurate medical information and religious content using tax dollars. There is no oversight of this program, no accountability for the contractors and subcontractors, and no reporting that indicates this program is meeting the goals of the state or federal programs that are providing the funding. Since 2011, Louisiana has awarded more than $11 million in grants through this program.

A new report by Lift Louisiana shows this program is wasteful and has been allowed to operate with very little transparency and no legislative oversight for more than a decade.
