We Stand with Trans People
Submitted by merenberg on October 24th, 2018
This week we learned about the Trump administration memo that seeks to define gender as either male or female, based on genitalia recorded at birth (or subsequent genetic testing). This proposal would assign gender at birth and would not allow it to be changed over the course of a person's life.
This is an alarming attack on the dignity and humanity of transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people and on bodily autonomy. It is our responsibility to educate ourselves, to listen, and take meaningful action in solidarity with trans, gender non-conforming, and non-binary people and the work they do. Lift Louisiana is committed to supporting and following their leadership.
