Tampon Tax Protest
As you may know, Lift Louisiana has supported efforts to eliminate the sales tax on feminine hygiene products in the state. We have come close, but so far, we haven't won. Now, we're teaming up with Period Equity and LOLA to protest the "tampon tax."
On November 22, make your voice heard. Join us in New Orleans for the Tampon Tax Protest Tour. Our collective action is a first step in initiating lawsuits against the 33 states that don’t consider tampons and pads necessities.
What we're doing
It's simple: Stop by for a 20 minutes to submit a sales tax reimbursement claim to your state’s department of revenue, protesting the sales tax on your period product receipt as unconstitutional.
How it works
Bring a tampon or pad receipt (or get one on site from LOLA).
Fill out a Claim for Refund contesting the sales tax on your receipt (we’ll have everything you need, including the address to your dept of revenue and a pre-stamped envelope).
Rally your community with a photo from our protest installation.
What to bring
A receipt from a period product purchase (we'll be selling product if you want to get a receipt onsite)
When and Where?
