SCOTUS takes up it's first challenge to Roe with newly confirmed Justice Barrett

Yesterday the Senate confirmed Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill Justice Ginsburg's seat on the Supreme Court. Her confirmation comes days after the U.S. Supreme Court decided to review the Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban, a case that directly challenges Roe v. Wade, setting up a potential reversal of that landmark decision. READ MORE

Louisiana passed a 15-week abortion ban in 2018 which included language that delayed enactment of the law unless the same ban in Mississippi was found to be constitutional. If SCOTUS uplolds Mississippi's law, Louisiana's law would be triggered to take effect.
