Lift Louisiana is devastated by today’s news that Justice Kennedy is retiring from the U.S. Supreme Court.  

Allowing President Trump to appoint another justice to the Supreme Court threatens to undermine what generations among us have fought so hard to protect – the rights of women, people of color, the LGBTQ community, immigrants, and workers. For decades, the Supreme Court has been the final defense against infringement on our fundamental rights. When the next nominee takes the bench, we are in danger of losing that protection.  

We stand with our allies in calling on the Senate, to ensure that Justice Kennedy is replaced by a justice who will respect, and protect, fundamental rights.

Make no mistake – anti-choice politicians are coming after our reproductive rights, first and foremost.  That’s why we need YOU now more than ever.
