Advocates for Women and Families Host Community Meeting

WHAT:    Advocates for women, children and families will host Louisiana: The State of Women and Families, a forum that brings together community members and leaders to learn about and discuss the issues that matter to women and families in North Louisiana.

WHO:       Speakers to include: Lift Louisiana, Louisiana Public Health Institute and Volunteers for Youth Justice

WHERE:      All Souls Unitarian Church, 9449 Ellerbe Rd, Shreveport, Louisiana 71106

WHEN:        Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM

DETAILS:    This community meeting will feature presentations from local experts on key Issues related to improving the lives of women including:

  • Improving access to health care
  • Supporting parenting and pregnant people
  • Improving the financial health of families
  • Promoting health, education, and safety of children and adolescents

Presentations will be followed by facilitated discussions between elected officials and their constituents. Local elected officials and community leaders are invited to share their public policy priorities for improving women’s lives in the region. Registration is free and open to the public.
